The Hidden Connection Between The ICXC Cross & The Christ Pantocrator

You've no doubt seen this cross and this Christ depiction before, but do you know what they have in common?

The letters "IC XC" represent the first and last letters of Ιησούς Χριστός which is Greek for Jesus Christ.

The first and last letters being used are a symbol of Jesus being Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.

NIKA means "conquers" or "is victorious" and comes from the Greek verb νικάω, which means "to conquer" or "to overcome."

(Hence where the popular brand Nike gets its name, but Nike as far as I know is not Christian.)

IC XC NIKA is thus an expression of faith and victory in Jesus Christ, emphasizing His triumph over sin, death, and all powers of darkness.

And how did Christ triumph? Through the cross.

Now for its relation to the picture of Christ, called the Christ Pantocrator. Did you ever wonder why Christ is holding his hand in such an odd position?

It's because the artist is depicting the ICXC 🤯
